Conduct an Internet search to locate the website of the executive branch of the federal government and your state government. Are any health care bills being introduced? Have any health care laws recently been passed? Give a brief description of the health care bill.

Check the pictures from your email, then answer the following questions:

  • Fallon states, “Consider media representatives as advisors early in the planning process.”  Use three (3) statements to describe what this means for public health practice.
  • Fallon states, “Honesty can be unpleasant, but it can never be challenged.”  What does this mean in the context of public health practice?  Do you think this is a basic common-sense approach to life in general?
  • What are the five (5) non-traditional marketing approaches often used by state and local health departments?  Pick one and provide an example of its use.
  • After reviewing the Social Marketing section of the assigned reading, what are your top four (4) take-aways (key components) you will want to remember?
  •

Notes:

- No plagiarism.

- Use simple words from your own.

- I need each answer comes under its question “NO ESSAY FORM”

Consider the obesity epidemic and the importance of consuming nutrient dense foods and avoiding excess consumption of energy dense foods. Do you think that there should be menu labelling for restaurant foods?  Read Chapter 2: Tools of a Healthy Diet and page 53, Expert Perspective from the Field.

Your essay should use 12-point font, double spaced, in approximately 1-2 pages.  The length requirement is for the body of your essay which does not include your name or reference list.  Find, cite and evaluate at least one source of information (other than the textbook) that supports your view about menu labelling.  Then find, cite and evaluate at least one source of information (other than the textbook) that is opposing your view.  State your conclusion after discussing these articles.

Try your hand at interpreting one of the “garden path” sentences below (remember that a garden path sentence is one that starts sound like it is going to mean one thing and then ends leaving you believing it means another). Don' t worry if some of the sentences don' t seems to make sense-you' ve been garden pathed!

Week 3 Khan Academy Support Videos

ll Khan Academy content is available for free at www.khanacademy.org

I would like for you to look around and find a graph. It can be anywhere.  Some places you might look are on the Internet, in your utility bill, in a weather forecast, in the newspaper, in a YouTube video, etc., then answer these questions about your graph:

What type of graph is it?

Where did you find it?  (If you can provide a picture of the graph, that would be helpful, but it is not necessary.)

Was it confusing?  If so, why?

Write one separate paragraph for each of the three areas in which you discuss what the marketing department could do to help improve customer retention.

Demand for an item is constant at 100 units a year. Unit cost is $50, ordering cost is $40 and holding cost is 40 per cent of value a year. Any demand that occurs when no stock remains is lost. What is the minimum selling price that makes it profitable to stock the item?

Consider the network in the figure where the numbers along the arcs represent the traversal distance of the arcs. Suppose all 4 nodes are customers. We want to open a Distribution Centre (DC) so as to minimize the longest distance to any customer. Suppose the DC can be located along the edges also. Find the best location for the DC by using the Hakimi’s algorithm discussed in class. What is the location and the cost?

An affluent school district was subject to a court-ordered desegregation plan involving busing. After receiving the court order recognizing that the district had achieved unitary status, the district decided to discontinue elementary school busing and move toward a neighbourhood plan that would bus sixth-graders to a middle school. Parents and citizens challenged the end of elementary school busing, alleging that it would recreate segregated schools.

a. Do parents have a valid claim?
b. Did the district use its new status to engage in de jure segregation? Why or Why not?
c. How do you think the court would rule in this case? Provide rationale for your response.
